Pet travel from Mexico to France

We coordinate departure from Mexico exclusively through MEX (Mexico City) or MTY (Monterrey) and entry into France. SENASICA paperwork, identification, rabies vaccination and EU documents are reviewed before booking.

Documents and preparation for entry into France

Departure from Mexico and entry into the EU involve separate procedures. We review SENASICA’s export zoosanitary certificate (CZE) and the current EU health certificate, issued or officially endorsed within the ten days before EU arrival. An EU pet passport may be eligible for certain returns if it proves the requirements; Mexican departure documents must also be checked.

For travel to France from Mexico, choose MEX or MTY as the departure airport. Coordinate the export certificate and current European model with SENASICA, and confirm the first authorised EU entry point and final destination.

  • Microchip checked before rabies vaccination and consistent identity records.
  • Valid rabies vaccination and at least 21 days after primary vaccination, or the applicable immunity period.
  • Veterinary file and SENASICA export zoosanitary certificate, with the applicable inspection and issue windows.
  • The current EU health certificate or an eligible passport for return, together with the non-commercial movement declaration and any required authorisations.
  • Departure from Mexico exclusively through MEX or MTY and entry through the first authorised EU point, with airline acceptance.

Dogs and cats: individual preparation

Species, breed, age, health and carrier dimensions affect the options. We assess PETC in the cabin or AVIH in the hold with an accompanying person on the same flight; the operating airline must accept the animal and itinerary. Where an authorised person travels with the pet, we review their authorisation and its connection with the owner’s journey.

Departure from MEX or MTY and first EU entry

Flights depart from MEX (Mexico City) or MTY (Monterrey). Documentation and identity checks are prepared for the first EU entry point, even when the final destination is in another country. Mexico is listed by the EU for exemption from rabies titre testing for non-commercial movement; travel history, stopovers and the current conditions of the case are reviewed. For France, we review the entry point, final destination and restrictions applying to certain dog breeds or types.

Questions before you travel

Answers to common questions about documents, preparation and accompanied travel.

Which Mexican airports can you depart from?

Exclusively MEX (Mexico City) or MTY (Monterrey). Choose one in your request; any ground journey to that airport is assessed separately.

Is a rabies titre test always required from Mexico?

It is not a general requirement for non-commercial movement from an EU-listed exempt country such as Mexico. The animal’s history, stopovers and current conditions must still be reviewed.

Can my pet return with an EU passport?

It may be used if it remains eligible and proves the return requirements. Otherwise, an EU health certificate is prepared. In either case, Mexican departure formalities must also be checked with SENASICA.

Can a professional accompany my pet instead of me?

We can assess an authorised person travelling on the same flight. Non-commercial movement requires review of authorisation, no change of ownership, animal-number limits and the owner’s travel within the five-day window.

Should I book before preparing the documents?

It is better to check animal acceptance, vaccination, SENASICA certificate timing and the European entry point first. A request does not confirm availability or a reservation.
