Every journey is prepared around your pet, U.S. departure point, intended Portugal gateway and final address.
We review dates, departure city, Portugal destination, pet size and breed to identify feasible accompanied options.
We map the EU health-certificate sequence, USDA steps and Portugal arrival notice around the travel date.
We assess PETC or AVIH acceptance with the operating airline and actual aircraft.
When feasible, your pet travels accompanied in cabin or on the same flight under an accepted airline arrangement.
We prepare arrival, document presentation and onward handover before departure.
Where airline rules, pet size and routing allow it, UniPetrans can provide personally accompanied pet travel with individual supervision during key stages of the journey.
Accompaniment never replaces airline, airport, veterinary, customs or Portuguese entry requirements. If the only viable route is manifest cargo, UniPetrans will not market it as this service.

International pet travel requires preparation in the right sequence. Depending on the animal and movement classification, requirements may include:
Requirements and airline policies can change. The competent authority and operating carrier are always decisive for the confirmed itinerary.
Current guidance: USDA APHIS — USA to Portugal · TAP Air Portugal — travelling with pets.

Your move is managed individually rather than treated as a standard shipment.
We assess the pet, origin, Portugal gateway and final destination as one journey.
Where feasible, a dedicated UniPetrans specialist can accompany the pet.
We coordinate the documentary timeline before travel is confirmed.
Confirmed accompanied journeys can include documented travel updates.
Portugal entry and final handover are prepared before travel day.
Potentially. We confirm an accompanied PETC or AVIH arrangement only when the animal, operating airline, aircraft, documents and entry pathway make it feasible. UniPetrans does not offer manifest-cargo transport.
For dogs, cats and ferrets, the journey normally starts with an identifiable working microchip followed by a compliant rabies vaccination, the applicable EU animal-health certificate and USDA endorsement where required. Portugal also requires the owner to notify the authorities at least 48 hours before arrival. The exact certificate and timeline are checked for the actual travel date.
Small pets may be eligible for cabin travel, subject to the operating airline, aircraft, carrier dimensions, route, availability and the animal’s condition. We check the actual itinerary rather than promise cabin travel in advance.
Sometimes. A larger dog may be accepted as AVIH in the hold on the same flight, but breed, measurements, temperature, aircraft and airline rules apply. If a route only works as manifest cargo, UniPetrans will not offer it as this accompanied service.
Start as soon as you have an approximate move date. Veterinary preparation, certificate sequencing, USDA endorsement, Portugal’s arrival notice and airline pet capacity must fit together before travel is confirmed.
Pricing depends on U.S. origin, Portugal destination, pet, carrier, airline, itinerary, documentation timeline, accompaniment and handover needs. UniPetrans provides an individual quotation after a route assessment.
