Documents and preparation: European Union → Ecuador

Agrocalidad requires official certification and species-specific health conditions. Check whether the animal is collected as accompanied baggage; that procedure must be distinguished from manifest cargo.

Identify the actual EU departure member state and its veterinary authority. National certification procedures differ; this route covers EU members, excluding the UK and other non-EU European countries.

  • Export health certificate issued or endorsed by the departure country’s official authority, in Spanish or English, within ten days before entry.
  • Age over four months, identification and clinical examination within ten days before travel, with complete animal details.
  • Internal and external parasite treatment within 21 days before departure, recording product, active substance and date.
  • Required species-specific vaccines must be current. Ecuador specifies 14 days after the first rabies vaccination; this does not replace the EU’s 21 days. Document any vaccine not approved in the departure country under Agrocalidad’s instructions.
  • Distinguish a pet in the cabin or collected with passenger baggage from manifest cargo. Agrocalidad requires a separate permit for cargo; it does not automatically apply to accompanied service.

European-country formalities: European Commission

Dogs and cats: individual preparation

Species, breed, age, health, weight and carrier dimensions affect the options. PETC means travel in the cabin; AVIH means carriage in the conditioned hold on the accompanying traveller’s flight. We propose an option only when the operating airline accepts that animal and itinerary.

Entry checks and final city

Provide the airport, final city and every connection. Confirm inspection with Agrocalidad and allow time for onward travel. The map illustrates the route and does not confirm a direct flight or pet space.

Questions before you travel

Answers to common questions about documents, preparation and accompanied travel.

Which documents should I prepare?

Export health certificate issued or endorsed by the departure country’s official authority, in Spanish or English, within ten days before entry.

Which deadlines apply?

Age over four months, identification and clinical examination within ten days before travel, with complete animal details. Internal and external parasite treatment within 21 days before departure, recording product, active substance and date. Required species-specific vaccines must be current. Ecuador specifies 14 days after the first rabies vaccination; this does not replace the EU’s 21 days. Document any vaccine not approved in the departure country under Agrocalidad’s instructions.

What should I prepare for the return to the EU?

For this non-exempt origin, check a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an EU-designated laboratory: sampling at least 30 days after primary vaccination and 90 days before certificate issue. Check the possible re-entry exception for a documented test before leaving the EU and continuous vaccination. Open the reverse route Ecuador → European Union and review its conditions separately. Do not assume that the outbound permit or certificate covers the return.

Can my pet travel in the cabin or accompanied hold?

Confirm the animal’s place, PETC or accompanied AVIH option, aircraft, breed, weight and connections with every operating airline. The passenger booking does not confirm pet acceptance.

Does this page confirm the flight and pet acceptance?

Provide the airport, final city and every connection. Confirm inspection with Agrocalidad and allow time for onward travel. The map illustrates the route and does not confirm a direct flight or pet space.
