Documents and preparation: Germany → Brazil

Brazilian entry is prepared with the current official certificate, vaccinations, treatments and veterinary examination. Check the current Brazilian model and deadlines with the departure country’s official service.

Ask your vet and the competent Veterinäramt about the destination certificate, endorsement and appointment. Confirm the document requirements before booking the official visit.

  • Official CVI using the Portaria MAPA 741/2024 model, mandatory since September 2025. An EU passport alone is not assumed sufficient.
  • Current rabies vaccination for animals aged 90 days or more; allow 21 days after primary vaccination before departure. Confirm exceptions with the authority.
  • Internal and external parasite treatment within 15 days before CVI issue, with product and date recorded.
  • Clinical examination within ten days before CVI issue. The 60-day entry validity requires current vaccination and does not replace preparation or EU-return deadlines.
  • Consistent identification, originals and VIGIAGRO checks. Review the microchip for the itinerary, health history and any case-specific additional requirements.

Dogs and cats: individual preparation

Species, breed, age, health, weight and carrier dimensions affect the options. PETC means travel in the cabin; AVIH means carriage in the conditioned hold on the accompanying traveller’s flight. We propose an option only when the operating airline accepts that animal and itinerary.

Entry checks and final city

Provide the airport, final city and every connection. Confirm inspection with MAPA / VIGIAGRO and allow time for onward travel. The map illustrates the route and does not confirm a direct flight or pet space.

Questions before you travel

Answers to common questions about documents, preparation and accompanied travel.

Which documents should I prepare?

Official CVI using the Portaria MAPA 741/2024 model, mandatory since September 2025. An EU passport alone is not assumed sufficient.

Which deadlines apply?

Current rabies vaccination for animals aged 90 days or more; allow 21 days after primary vaccination before departure. Confirm exceptions with the authority. Internal and external parasite treatment within 15 days before CVI issue, with product and date recorded. Clinical examination within ten days before CVI issue. The 60-day entry validity requires current vaccination and does not replace preparation or EU-return deadlines.

What should I prepare for the return to the EU?

For this non-exempt origin, check a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an EU-designated laboratory: sampling at least 30 days after primary vaccination and 90 days before certificate issue. Check the possible re-entry exception for a documented test before leaving the EU and continuous vaccination. Open the reverse route Brazil → Germany and review its conditions separately. Do not assume that the outbound permit or certificate covers the return.

Can my pet travel in the cabin or accompanied hold?

Confirm the animal’s place, PETC or accompanied AVIH option, aircraft, breed, weight and connections with every operating airline. The passenger booking does not confirm pet acceptance.

Does this page confirm the flight and pet acceptance?

Provide the airport, final city and every connection. Confirm inspection with MAPA / VIGIAGRO and allow time for onward travel. The map illustrates the route and does not confirm a direct flight or pet space.
